Wow, it’s been a busy start of the Winter Quarter! I have had lots of questions about the college e-mail accounts. It is sooooo important for students to actively check their college e-mail accounts because we send out notices regarding academics, financial aid, and other important information you may need. There are times we even send out extremely important messages during the breaks between quarters. A good rule of thumb is to check your college e-mail account a minimum of once a week and twice a week if you take online classes.
Something else I have noticed is that some students still send e-mails to instructors and administration from an outside e-mail account. We are not allowed to respond to or accept e-mails from outside accounts. This is a security and identification issue which has been set-up to protect the student. So, if you don’t know your user name or password for your e-mail account, you can call the college or stop by the office and see me, Nichole Martin, or our IT Manager, Jason Angus (his office is upstairs in Room 206 – with all of the windows.) If you don’t attend classes in the building, you can call the toll-free number at 800.344.4522.
I love all the technological services we have added for our students but I know it can be a little intimidating so I am happy to help if you need it. Remember, the best way to manage your e-mail is to log in to your account at least once a week! -Nichole
